Where I Coach
And How Far I'll Drive.
I'm based in Sheffield and I coach out of two gyms here. Beyond that I travel to you, up to 50 miles, which covers more of South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire than most people assume. If you're further out than that, online coaching does the same job without either of us sitting in traffic.
The Gyms
I Work Out Of.
The Gym Group, The Moor
Sheffield city centre, S1. Fully kitted out, open early and late, and the easiest option if you're in town or can get there on the tram. This is also where I run my classes.
- No travel fee — you come to me
- Full rack, dumbbell and machine setup
- Walkable from the city centre and the stations
Muscle Performance, Wadsley Bridge
North-west Sheffield, S6, handy for Hillsborough, Wadsley Bridge and everything up that side of the city. A proper strength gym rather than a chain.
- No travel fee — you come to me
- Strength-focused kit and plenty of platform space
- Parking on site, which the city centre can't offer
Towns I
Travel To.
Travel-to-you means your home setup or whichever gym you already pay for, assuming they allow outside coaches. I've grouped these by how long the drive actually takes rather than by mileage, because the two don't agree and the drive is the thing that decides whether a weekly slot survives past February.
Under 30 Minutes
Close enough for a normal weekly slot, same as coaching in Sheffield.
30 to 60 Minutes
Workable weekly, and it helps if we can put your session at the start or the end of a day rather than the middle.
- Wakefield
- Mansfield
- Huddersfield
- Nottingham
- Derby
An Hour or More
Inside 50 miles, but the Pennines and the M1 aren't. These work as a run of sessions in one week, not as a weekly slot — I'd rather say that now than cancel on you in month two.
- Leeds
- Bradford
- Manchester
Anywhere Else
In the UK.
If you're outside the drive, nothing about the coaching has to change except that I'm not stood next to you. Online coaching is the same programming, the same weekly check-ins and the same form reviews, and it costs less than in-person because there's no hour in the car built into it. The Hub is the cheaper end of that again — the app, the programmes and the tracking, without the one-to-one.
Plenty of people inside the 50 miles pick online anyway, usually because a fixed weekly time is the part that doesn't fit rather than the distance. That's a perfectly good reason and I'd rather you started on something that survives your actual week.
Distance,
Travel and Fees.
How far do you actually travel?
Up to 50 miles from Sheffield by road. That's the same figure in the footer of every page on this site and it hasn't moved. Past that, a one-hour session costs most of a working day and I'd end up cancelling on you, so I'd rather put you on online coaching and have it work.
My town isn't listed. Does that mean no?
No. The list is the places I go often enough to be straight with you about the drive, not a boundary. If you're roughly within an hour, send me your postcode and I'll tell you yes or no and what the travel fee would be. If the answer is no, I'll say so rather than take a booking I can't keep.
How much is the travel fee?
It depends where you are, so I quote it separately from the session price and always before you book. You'll never find it added on afterwards. If you come to one of the two Sheffield gyms instead there's no travel fee at all.
Why are Leeds and Manchester in the same group as each other?
Because of the drive, not the distance. Manchester is about 40 miles and comfortably inside the radius, but it's over an hour each way across the Pennines, and Leeds and Bradford are much the same down the M1. For those three a block of sessions in one week works far better than a slot every Tuesday, and the price is the same either way.
What does it cost?
A 4-session kickstart is £, monthly PT starts at £, and blocks work out cheaper per session. It's all on the packages page. Prices are the same wherever I coach you — the travel fee is the only thing that moves, and it's quoted separately so you can see exactly what it's adding.
Do I need my own gym membership?
Only if you want to train at a gym. If you've got a setup at home we'll use that and you need nothing else. If you'd rather train at a gym it can be one you already belong to, assuming they let outside coaches in, which is worth a quick ask at reception as policies differ.
